Sphere CIF

Groupe CIF makes use of the know-how and synergies resulting from the merger of well-known companies from the power transmission and foundry industries.
Already in 1831 the foundry company Ferry Capitain was founded by Auguste Capitain in the north of France. Only 70 years later, in 1901, the French transmission manufacturer CMD was founded by André-Gustave Citroën at the Paris site.

Groupe CIF was created in 1978 through the merger of Ferry Capitain and the company Ateliers Roche, which specialised in special machinery and welding technology.

In 1988, the French foundry FAD from Denain was integrated into the group of companies, before the expansion of the production portfolio was carried out in 1993 with the takeover of "FC Stahl Hattingen" with the specialisation in the mechanical processing of large components, today's FCMD GmbH.

A lot of know-how in the power transmission and foundry industry, became part of the group in 2005, when the previously independent French transmission manufacturer CMD Cambrai became part of Groupe CIF.

In order to improve the contact with the customer, a branch of CMD existed in Wermelskirchen, which was merged with FC Stahl Hattingen to form FCMD GmbH in Hattingen, thus combining the competencies of machining and sales of drive components.
